The requirements differ sharply by site, and the post order has to reflect that:
- Residential towers and communities — lobby cover, visitor and contractor control, parking, and out-of-hours patrols. Mostly about access and presentation.
- Commercial offices and business centres — reception cover, contractor control and after-hours security for floors that are empty by seven.
- Retail and hospitality — customer-facing presence, door control, and support with incidents that would otherwise become police matters.
- Construction sites — out-of-hours intrusion and plant theft are the real risks, so patrol patterns and logging matter more than presentation.
- Hospitals, clinics and schools — access control, crowd management and a presence trained to de-escalate rather than confront.
- Industrial and logistics — gatehouse control, vehicle movement, and yard security across shift changes.
What a guard actually does on shift
The visible part of a guard’s job is the smallest part. On a typical shift, a guard will:
- Take a written handover from the previous shift and confirm what is outstanding.
- Check the post, the gates, the alarms and the fire exits before the building fills up.
- Control access — logging visitors, issuing passes, checking contractors in and out.
- Complete patrols at the agreed intervals, recording checkpoints so there is evidence the route was walked.
- Record what happened: refusals, incidents, damage, faults, deliveries and anything unusual.
- Hand over in writing, so the next shift knows what happened rather than finding out at the wrong moment.
The log book is the difference between a client who can answer a complaint and one who cannot.
SIRA registration, vetting and training
Security guarding in Dubai is regulated. Every guard we deploy is registered with the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (SIRA), holds a valid security licence, and has been vetted — identity, background and references — before their first shift. We do not use unlicensed staff and we do not subcontract to companies that do.
Beyond the licence, guards are trained on the specific site before working it: the building layout, the escalation route, the fire and evacuation procedure, and what they may and may not do when refusing entry or removing someone. Site-specific training is what stops a guard improvising.
Supervision and reporting
Every contract has a named supervisor who visits on a set cycle, checks that the post order is being followed, spot-checks the log, and handles escalations before they become incidents. Guards do not simply disappear into a building and reappear on an invoice.
Clients receive a written report on an agreed cycle covering attendance, incidents, patrol compliance and anything needing the building’s attention. Guards working a building also see faults first — a leaking pipe, a broken light, a damaged door — and these are reported rather than walked past.
Shift patterns and cover
We cover 24/7 posts, day-only posts, night-only posts and peak-only cover, and we build rotas that hold up over months rather than for the first fortnight. Relief guards are trained on the site in advance, so a guard calling in sick does not mean an unmanned post.
How security guard services are priced
Security guards in Dubai are priced per guard per shift, with the rate depending on shift length, the number of guards, whether the post is residential or commercial, the level of training required and whether a supervisor is included. There is no meaningful “per square metre” figure for guarding — a 200-unit tower with one entrance and a 20-unit building with three are not comparable.

It depends on entrances, hours, visitor volume and what the guard is controlling. A single-entrance office may need one guard on a day shift; a residential tower with parking and a service entrance usually needs more. We will give you a firm number after a short survey.
