Hospital Security in Dubai

Ocean Growth Security provides hospital and clinic security in Dubai. Hospital security is not the same job as guarding a building: the people walking through the door are frightened, in pain, or waiting for news, and the officers on the door have to manage that without making it worse.

Our officers are briefed on how a hospital actually runs — triage, visiting hours, ward access, the pharmacy, the cash office and the ambulance bay — so they support clinical staff instead of getting in the way of them.

What our hospital security covers

  • Emergency department control — managing the queue and the waiting area, de-escalating aggression, and keeping the ambulance bay and the resuscitation route clear.
  • Access control to clinical areas — controlled entry to wards, maternity, neonatal, ICU, theatres and any area where a patient’s privacy or safety depends on who is allowed in.
  • Newborn and paediatric protection — tag and match procedures on maternity and children’s wards, with officers trained on the abduction-prevention routine the hospital has agreed.
  • Pharmacy and controlled drugs — restricted access, key control and logged entry to pharmacy and drug storage areas.
  • Cash office and patient valuables — escort and presence for cash handling, and handling of patient property where the hospital asks us to hold it.
  • Patrols and CCTV support — scheduled patrols of car parks, service corridors and plant areas, with radio contact to a control room.
  • Incident and restraint support — verbal de-escalation first, with physical intervention only by staff trained and licensed for it, and always recorded.
  • Lost children and vulnerable patients — a defined search and containment procedure for a missing child, a disoriented patient or someone who has left the ward when they should not have.

Why hospital security is a specialist job

A shopping centre can refuse entry. A hospital cannot. The emergency department has to take whoever arrives, at any hour, and often when they are angry, intoxicated or unwell. That changes how an officer has to work: less confrontation, more containment, and a much clearer line on when to involve clinical staff rather than security.

Confidentiality matters as much as safety. Our officers see who is admitted, who is visiting and what condition they are in. Every contract includes a written confidentiality requirement, and officers are briefed that patient information is not discussed on or off site.

How we work with clinical teams

Security in a hospital only works if the clinical team knows what security will and will not do. Before we start, we agree the escalation path — what a nurse does first, when security is called, who authorises a restraint, and who is notified afterwards. We agree the visiting hours and the exceptions, the wards that are locked and who holds the access list, and the procedure for a patient who wants to leave against medical advice.

We also agree the reporting. Incidents are logged with time, location, people involved and action taken, and reported to the hospital on a cycle it sets. That record is what protects the hospital when a complaint follows an incident.

Licensing and standards

Ocean Growth Security is a SIRA-licensed Dubai company. Officers hold the licences their posts require, work to a written post order, and are supervised on a set inspection cycle. Officers posted to clinical areas are briefed on infection-control requirements, including hand hygiene and the correct behaviour in a sterile or restricted zone.

Where we provide hospital security

We work in private hospitals, day-surgery and specialty clinics, diagnostic and imaging centres, dental and aesthetic clinics, rehabilitation facilities, laboratories and medical office buildings across Dubai, including Deira, Bur Dubai, Healthcare City, Jumeirah and Business Bay.

Questions we are asked

Do your officers work in the emergency department overnight? Yes. Emergency cover is usually a 24-hour post, and we staff it as a rota rather than a single long shift.

Can you provide female officers for maternity and female wards? Where a post requires a female officer, we will confirm at the scoping stage whether we can staff it for the hours you need.

Will your officers restrain a violent patient? Only under the procedure the hospital has agreed, only when clinical staff have determined it is necessary, and always with the incident recorded. De-escalation is the default.

If you are reviewing security at a hospital or clinic, or preparing for an accreditation inspection, contact us and we will review your current arrangements before proposing anything.
